Salmonella

Posted on: December 15, 2009

Salmonella. Yup, that’s why my poor baby was so sick for a whole week w/ endless diapers (if ya know what I mean!). It’s been a few weeks, but I still can’t get over it. Salmonella. Isabella had freakin’ salmonella!!

And before you all assume that I gave my little one under-cooked chicken – I didn’t. If anything when I do cook chicken it’s honestly so over-cooked and dried out because that is always my fear!

Anyways, here’s the whole story in a quick recap — we get off the boat from that lovely cruise and Isabella gets extremely sick. Like literally sick, sick, sick. After four visits to the pediatrician and a trip to the ER, the lab results finally come back and it’s 100% positive for salmonella. Freakin’ salmonella.

The pediatrician asked me if we’ve left the country lately as she suspects it was from that and of course we did so that’s my guess now too. I mean, we didn’t have any chicken at home and I am so OCD about proper handwashing that it’s not even funny. Yes, I am actually very OCD about a lot of things — they say it’s a disease you can get help for, but truthfully I think it’s a fabulous quality and I don’t want to get rid of it!  🙂

Anyways, we can now add Salmonella poisoning to the endless list of reasons as to why we will never go on another Carnival Cruise again.

So thank you Carnival Cruise Lines for not only not taking us to Grand Turks as promised in our booked vacation package, but also for giving my daughter Salmonella poisoning which could’ve been fatal. Oh yeah and thank you for causing us to go through a whole case of diapers in less than 1 week — those are expensive!!

P.S.
On the plus side, after a whole week of not eating Isabella did finally eat some soup!  🙂

P.P.S.
This rant is actually long overdue, but I’ve just been so busy and had no time to post this. Isabella is doing awesome now and she’s all better!
