“How to Have Your Second Child First” Book Review

Posted on: July 6, 2010

If you’re anything like Minnie Mama then you will obsess and make yourself crazy during your entire pregnancy — you will read every book, magazine article, web article, etc. you can on being pregnant and your child once he/she arrives. But let’s be honest here — all of the books and hours of research you spend scouring over really won’t prepare you for real life once that beautiful baby is here.

However, I realize that as a parent to-be or new parent, you’re probably not going to listen to my advice as I know I wouldn’t have. So with that said, there is one book (well, actually 2, but I am only reviewing this one right now so email for the other 1 if interested) that I would strong recommend reading. It’s How to Have Your Second Child First by Kerry Colburn and Rob Sorensen.

This book gives a completely honest and realistic approach to caring for and raising your new bundle of joy. It’s not one of those books that was written over 30 years ago so the information is outdated and it’s not written by doctors who discuss everything in medical terms that you totally don’t understand. It’s written by these two parents who speak with all kinds of real life parents that offer their real life advice and tips from tried and true experiences. So grab the book and curl up for a good honest chat with an old friend — it’s honestly a fabulous and easy read. My only regret about this book is that I didn’t know about it when I was pregnant as it’s amazing!

Important Disclosure: No monetary compensation was received for this review although I was given a complimentary book to faciliate my review. However, all of the opinions expressed are honest and my own.

Thank you so much for your lovely review! I love the line about “curl up for a good honest chat with an old friend”–that’s exactly what we were trying to create with this book, a feeling that you suddenly have a room full of good parent pals who can give you the benefit of their experience, without stressing you out. I hope your readers will be inspired to check out the book, and also our blog if they’re interested:
Thanks again!
