Boston Gets Back To Nature Event

Posted on: September 8, 2010

For those of you who read this blog on a regular basis, you know Minnie Mama has been trying to eat healthier and really just be at peace with the world around her. So with that in mind, I am wicked excited to share with you information on a FREE event called “Boston Gets Back to Nature” which is being held today at Government Center here in Boston. Yes, I realize the event is today and I am just posting this today and yes I had advance notice, but I am a total slacker and have been super busy w/ life stuff — sorry. Really, I am sorry!!!  😦  But the event is going on from 6am to 7pm so no worries as there’s still plenty of time to check it out today. Stop by on your lunch break, bring the kids in before / after their naps, come into town for dinner and check it out, etc. You get the idea, but bottom line is you should come down and enjoy this!

Anyways, if you’re not familiar Back to Nature products, here’s a quick summary — they contain no artificial flavors, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup or hydrogenated oils. And on a side note — they are absolutely DELICIOUS!

As a mom, I spend a lot of time thinking about what Isabella will eat as I am sure you all do too, and Back to Nature recognizes that finding wholesome snacks for your children can be difficult. In fact, a recent study done by Janice Newell Bissex, registered dietician and co-founder of MealMakeoverMoms.com, found that “Picky eaters who whine and complain” is the number one obstacle in getting kids to eat healthy, well-balanced meals. Janice will be on hand at “Boston Gets Back to Nature” between noon and 2 p.m. to offer ways on how to incorporate wholesome ingredients from nature into your own cooking.

The event is designed to offer people a chance to connect with nature in the middle of the city. Government Center will be completely transformed and will feature real sunflowers, lemon trees, mint, a waterfall, and flowering vanilla orchids and vines, all inspired by Back to Nature products you can sample at the event:

– Sunflower Basil Crackers in the “Sunflower Basil Pergola”

– Madagascar Vanilla Wafers in the “Vanilla-Orchid Veranda”

– California Lemon Cookies in the “Lemon Lounge”

– Fudge Mint Cookies in the “Mint Chocolate Retreat”

I was told attendees will also have the opportunity to pick up a little piece of nature at each station for their enjoyment at home. Translation: FREE healthy snacks for yourself and the kids!  🙂

I had the pleasure of receiving complimentary snacks from Back to Nature and OMG they are absolutely delicious. Like seriously, I think I polished off at least half the box of the “Mint Chocolate Retreat” cookies!! They are to die for and taste like the Girl Scout thin mint cookies, but way better. I am not even exaggerating — they are the best ever!!!

As you know usually I post pics of Isabella trying out the samples, but I received these last night and by the time I opened the shipped box to see what came in the mail, she was sound asleep.

I will definitely be sharing the Sunflower Basil Crackers with Isabella as those are super yummy and they’re the perfect blend of healthy & filling snack paired w/ cheese so be on the look out for those pics. But the cookies are a whole different story — those might be my special treat that I hide in the freezer from the family so I can totally indulge while watching my beloved GH. As you can see these pics were taken on my couch and yes those empty slots are all the cookies that I totally pigged out on while watching GH last night, hee hee.
